New Delhi: Sher Singh Ghubaya, who was a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP from Ferozepur, joined Congress in the presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. Swabia had resigned from Shiromani Akali Dal on Monday. Its MP Sher Singh joined the Congress on Tuesday, jolting the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). In the presence of Firozpur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab, Ghubaya was formally included in the party in the presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Punjab unit chief Sunil Kumar Jakhar.

After nearly two years of tense relations with the leadership, Ghubaya had resigned from Shiad's primary membership on Monday, while the party claimed that he was expelled from the party due to "anti-party activities".


Prior to joining the Congress of Ghubaya, BJP MP Savitri Bai Phule and Kirti Azad did not tolerate the Congress. Flowers representing the Bahraich parliamentary constituency of Uttar Pradesh had joined the Congress on March 2, while in the year 2015, the MP from Darbhanga, suspended by BJP, joined the Congress on 18 February.
